Code & Score Soccer Match with HaloCode

It’s time to kick off with some coding! How about allowing those whom love soccer to make your own scoreboard with a few household items, and challenge with other soccer enthusiasts to get the highest number of goals score?

We have designed the workshop for 2 days to allow our participants to code to learn and learn to code. During the workshop, they will be exposed to block programming and integrate their programming into HaloCode. There will be loads of making and coding fun!

The participants will be engaged during the 2-days hands-on workshop with the following:

I. Learn about HaloCode:

a) Features of the HaloCode
b) Sensors available
c) Buttons available

II. Code to Learn

a) Introduction to computing via unplugged activities
-> computational thinking process

b) Introduction to MakeBlock Programming
-> what are program scripts

III. Create simple games like scissors paper rock game and/or Mood radio with HaloCode

V. Learn the circulatory behind the making of a SCOREBOARD with programming on HaloCode

IV. Lets’ MAKE football goal posts with HaloCode

V. Let’s challenge between teams with real kicking

VI. The participants are brought back to reflect and evaluate other possibilities that can be worked on resolve real world issues with the newly acquired skills

The workshop aims to:

a) provide opportunities to test experimental outcomes, thus laying foundational much-desired research skills

b) provide good understanding of computer science concepts that can serve as the foundation for future study

c) provide goal-setting and independent study skills as they are challenged towards reaching a target

d) provide an environment to develop powerful design skills that they can use in future projects of all types

No prior experience required.

How do we at KidsCode impart our knowledge to your child?

* We guide your child through step-by-step exercises to the project
* After which we get them to rebuild this project or do a slight variation of it
* We then leave them to build a simple new project from scratch
* We get them to work on this new project without any guidance
* We repeat the process to instil confidence and familiarity

Our training method helps to instil the basics of coder and maker, the sense of adventure and the confidence to explore new ways to continue on improving their newly acquired skills even after the course has been completed!
